The Executive Director and Founder of IIMA, Muataz Malik, is a native of Damascus, Syria.  Mr. Malik immigrated to the United States 33 years ago and earned his citizenship through his hard work, dedication, and business ethic.  Mr. Malik is a successful businessman in Atlanta, Georgia and is a key figure in the Muslim community in Atlanta. 

 

Starting out as a volunteer at a museum in Damascus, Syria, Mr. Malik immigrated to the US and soon thereafter was elected the general secretary for the Muslim Student Association and Dawah community for non-Muslims.  Mr. Malik is a founding member of the Muslim Social Services in Atlanta, which helps refugees from around the world. In addition, he currently serves on the Board of Trustees for SHARE Atlanta, an affiliate of the Muslim Alliance of North America.  Mr. Malik is a trusted member of the Islamic Food Council of America, and is a founding member of Al-Farooq Masjid, Masjid Hamzah, and the Community Masjid of Atlanta, as well as a volunteer for Islamic Relief Worldwide. 

 

Additionally, Mr. Malik founded the Ummah Group, Inc., an umbrella corporation housing organizations such as the Food Pantry, Islamic Will & Testament, and the Muslim Athletic Club (MAC).
